Angling on Arran

Arran Angling Association rents 9 island rivers for the use of both residents and visitors.

These are:

Loch Garbad in the south end (parking available at the Eas Mor car park) is also available and is stocked with rainbow trout to supplement the indigenous brown trout. (Strictly fly fishing only).

While all of Arran’s rivers can hold sea trout and salmon, they are ‘spate’ rivers requiring rainfall to raise water levels and encourage fish upstream from the sea.

Seasons are:

Brown Trout 15 March — 6 October
Salmon and sea trout 3 May — 31 October
Rainbow trout (Loch Garbad) All year round

Day permits and Membership are available to Arran residents. Visitors may take out Day Permits or Associate Membership. Associate Membership is cheaper if fishing more than one day.

There is no Sunday fishing except on Loch Garbad.
